His heart races as he speeds past the last known fragments of his ever fleeting existence. He was forced to choose: stay as he was and endure suffering for however long his life would last, or run away and forget the pain caused by the ones who claimed to love him. He chose the latter, fleeing from every single ounce of reality once known to him. He hopes and prays that running will be enough to save his already distraught soul.
Gradually he loses speed, stopping in the emptiness of the dark abyss, with only the slight glow of the stars to retrieve him from the denial in which he resides. The unparalleled darkness of the night calms his still pounding heart, and his breathing begins to slow. Admiring the stars, he stoops down, eventually changing his focus to the ground below him, rather than the universe above him. He lightly touches the damp grass under him, trying to remember a time when things were simpler. Unfortunately, things never were simpler, and in his view, times were never going to change.
He sat down on the grass, letting the cool dew seep into his clothes. Raising his head he takes in the glorious, fiery, explosion of sunlight just beginning to expose itself over the horizon. Realizing that the seemingly endless night has finally come to an end, he stood erect and began to move. He keeps pushing forward into the blazing sun, never knowing what will come next, but always knowing that no matter what occurs after this day, it will, undoubtedly, be painless compared to the agony he once experienced.
