A Walk in the Rain

Try to stay dry.

Everyone should love everyone else. If only it was as easy as just saying those few words. Many people today feel that if they show love, compassion, or even a general fondness of people that they are somehow weak and vulnerable. If only everyone had the courage to show compassion towards the rest of humanity. So many problems could be solved if everyone would just get over their differences and love each other.

For our research projects one of my friends is writing about interracial relationships. I know for a fact that some people in her family are against her having a boyfriends of another race, but in all reality who cares? It is her life and that is her choice. I personally think that it shouldn’t matter the color of a person’s skin as long as they are the perfect match for you.

I can understand that the generations before us were raised with that hatred towards other races, but we are in the year 2007, things have changed. We no longer have so much hatred towards other races and I wish that the older generations could see that. We are far from the time when the civil rights movement was a hot topic. We have excepted the fact that everyone is created equal and that no one is better then another because of race, religion, color of skin or background.

The sad part is that those people who are extremely racist have kids, and are teaching them that it is okay for them to be judgmental of a person because of skin color. You can’t tell a person how to raise their children but you can hope that as the children grow they see the flaws in living life that way.

Hopefully, one day very soon, everybody will love everyone else and all the racial hatred will be gone.
