Violence Is Always The Answer

I know that it may come as a shock to the world, but yes I enjoy violent video games. Whatever this subject comes up in conversations most people give me a very puzzled look and then continue on talking. Although it is interesting to note that most guys find it absolutely amazing that I play, and I am good. I mean come on I got voted Best Gamer by my school. But I’m not writing this to talk about how much I love video games, I am writing this to talk about how they can affect children.

I started playing violent video games when I was around the age 13 and I would like to think that they haven’t affected me any. But, the truth is, if I had started any earlier I am sure that I would be reaping the effects now. Thankfully my parents wouldn’t allow me to play until I could see the difference between what is real and what isn’t and between what is right and what is wrong.

There is also something else, I do not play for hours on end everyday. Video games aren’t a way for me to escape reality. What parents need to watch out for is how young their children are compared to how violent the game is, along with how much they play. If they are playing too much maybe it is time to tell them that they can only play for a certain amount of time everyday. Also, if the child starts out with these games really young they are more than likely going to lead a violent life. Young children don’t know the difference between what they see on the screen and real life. May of them think that it is acceptable to ‘kill’ someone because they aren’t fond of them.

My best advice to you is to know what the people in your household are doing. If they are old enough to know the difference let them have fun for a while, but don’t let it get out of hand, and if they are still young maybe tell them to go run around outside and play some football rather than killing people on a game.
